Eckersley is a PhD student in the department of
Computer Science and the Intellectual Property
Research Institute of Australia at the University of
Melbourne. He is currently working on his thesis
entitled The implications of digital technology for
the logic of copyright law. Eckersley is
particularly interested in non-monopolistic
incentive structures for the creation of
intellectual works. Such structures, if they could
be found would enable, for example, a vast amount of
free writing and software to be distributed over the
internet, whilst simultaneously making it easier for
writers and programmers to earn a living. |
